To Promote Workplace Health and Safety

WHERAS, Colorado is a leader in technology, innovation, and venture capital investment and consistently ranks in the top ten for per capita gross state product (1) ; and

WHERAS, Colorado employers, workers, and trade unions are essential to Colorado’s economic success; and

WHERAS, Colorado employs people in many high-risk industries and the occupational risks of many new technologies are still unknown; and

WHERAS, on average in Colorado, there are over 2,500 work-related hospitalizations annually and one worker dies every three to four days due to occupational injury or illness (2) ; and

WHERAS, ensuring the health and safety of Colorado’s workforce can lower business costs and improve worker productivity, thus ensuring the ongoing success of Colorado’s businesses; and

WHERAS, preventing work related injuries, illnesses and fatalities will reduce the financial, physical and emotional hardships currently impacting workers and their families;

Therefore, <I or WE>, <INSERT NAME of INDIVIDUAL or COMPANY> along with the employer, employee, and trade union members of WorkSafe Colorado proclaim that,

We are committed to protecting and preserving the health, wellness, and safety of Colorado workers and will be proactive in efforts to reduce workplace injuries and illnesses; and

We will foster and support WorkSafe Colorado members to:


• Collaborate among businesses, workers and trade unions to promote and implement “best practices” that underlie healthy and safe workplaces; and


• Increase our knowledge of workplace health and safety issues; and


• Share our “lessons learned” with others in order to make Colorado workers the safest and healthiest in the country
.
